Music Marketing Blog Post #1

    We began our research by thinking of a theme and a target audience for our presentation. Our target audience was agreed to be teens and young adults. Since our song is "Send My Love," we agreed that the theme should be love and the music video. We also agreed that the logo will be based off a love letter. We researched different websites that artists have and used that as an example for our marketing website. We then created a website and a logo that reflects our ideas. Then we made social media accounts such as Instagram and Twitter that we linked on the website. Since social media is extremely popular, we decided to focus our marketing there because it will reach our target audience the most. We also created merchandise such as t-shirts and hats that we made a page for on the website. We then brainstormed for our music video and wrote our ideas down in a Google Doc (see below). We decided that we want the video to be about a woman who writes a love letter to someone who has passed away. We agreed that I will be the singer in the video and we also decided what I will wear and what props we need. One of our group members will bring a projector when we should so we can create the effect of words projected on a girl as seen below. 

    Our next steps include filming the music video, editing the video, finalizing the presentation, and creating more posts on the social media account. We agreed to all meet up during the weekend and film the video. After it is filmed, we will use Adobe Premiere to it and then we can post it. After the music video is finalized, we can post it onto the website and presentation which will finalize it all. Also, we will post more on Instagram and Twitter to gain more of an audience. The more active a user is, the more views they will have so we will post more. 

    Some challenges we encountered were figuring out a theme and an idea for the music video. We had many different ideas for a theme because our song can be portrayed in many different ways so it was difficult to choose one. However, we overcame it by compromising and all agreeing on one. Also it was challenging to come up with a setting and idea for the music video. At the beginning, we decided to film at the beach and incorporate nature. Then, we changed our idea to making the video about writing and putting emotion into a love letter. This was challenging because we wanted to come up with an idea that had emotion and intensity. We overcame this by making the love letter to be written to someone who has passed away. The video will showcase intense feelings and emotions.
